Hey WoCers,
So a long time ago I supported both Elite Dangerous and Star Citizen on kickstarter and im finally coming around to see how they are doing.
Both are modern MMO space flight sims and to be blunt look incredible. Elite: Dangerous is out and im about ot have a play with it, just wondering if anyones had a go?
The bigger question is Star Citizen. Its being developed by Chris Roberts who did Wing Commander back in the day...and was supported on Kickstarter and has now reached 106 MILLION. ie. No outside investors and He is literally doing everything he can think of given he has the money to as he said "make the game I always wanted to play".
Not even a question that its the most audacious MMO ever created, space flight sim with a giant galaxy (ala Eve/Elite:Dangerous), PLUS 1st person is built in (get out of your ship on space stations, full FPS which looks crazy when you turn off gravity in a fight) and you can actually directly transition from hyperspace to come down into a planets atmosphere and land at a base then jump right out of your ship. Crytek engine graphics.
I downloaded and installed the current alpha to test it out and...WOW. It is mindblowing already. Looks gorgeous and the scope of what he's trying to do. I dropped into one of the persistent universe test areas you can jump into which is a space station. Walked around inside for awhile then found an airlock, cycled through and stepped out onto one of the landing platforms, the spinning wheels of the station filling the sky before a gas giant. Just beautiful.
So who else is waiting for this?
