I wouldn't be adverse to that - I have tried to read it and given up which irks me :P so a second try might be just what the doctor ordered.

Might be a book to read in sections as it could be daunting?

Ah the Malazan series.

Many of my friends who are avid readers rave about this series. I've ran into the same problem Jules. And I've heard from many people that the first book can be hard to get through. One of these days I'll soldier through it to get to the good stuff.

The Wheel of Time series by Robert Jordan definitely for any fantasy reader.

Like romance with a action and a lil blood? Then the Black Dagger Brotherhood series is right there.

Those are great suggestions for reads, although I never got into WoT I know they are very very popular. However this was a thread for book club reads and I think those might be too long ;)

Was my bad for not explaining in the title. I am going to put threads in the other forums for suggested reads.

I actually read the first book, but as it was quite a challenge to get through it, I couldn't bring myself to start book 2. Does the good stuff start there, or even later?

Hate to say suffer through. But stick with it

Keep in mind it's based on a DnD campaign. So as crap jells and honestly as he learns how to write better. It gets better

Thanks! I'll probably go get it in the library (again!) then, next time I go there.
