I am not a huge fan of horror stories (or movies) but Stephen King is one of my favourite writers. I have all his books and at some point will work my way through them all.

My favourite book of his so far is The Stand although I also very much enjoyed Dr Sleep.

I read Misery back in middle school and I was afraid to walk down the hall at night to use the bathroom. Waaaaaaaay better than the movie, and the movie was great. But the book.... man, that biatch was scary. And the ending was much better in the book, you get a greater sense of how much she farged him up for life. In the movie you just get the quick scene with him imaging her when the waitress walks up.

Oh man. My dad has lots of his books, bought them on airports during business trips, and as such these were pretty much the first English books I read. And while I hate horror movies, I love horror books. I think it is a matter of having control over the suspense.

Still need to read the Dark Tower series, btw!

Currently on a break from ASoIaF and reading Mr Mercedes.

1) not particularly a horror story more a mystery.
2) Written in present tense which can be distracting.
3) A LOT of foul language which is also distracting, not sure if that is normal for Mr King, I don't think it can be or I wouldn't be noticing.

All that said he has captivated me and I am now eagerly awaiting the culmination and confrontation

come on Shiny...I mean, I shouldnt really talk, everyone says The Stand is the ultimate Stephen King work, but...IT...Pennywise the Clown(also a punk band I grew up with)

Misery was phenomenal, as well as the movie, strangely I thought the movie for the Shining*wierd, creepy smile at Shiny* was better than the book.

Four Seasons...was...
4 "short stories" 3 of which became movies by different names(Stand by Me, Shawshank Redemption, and a third I saw a trailer of with Ian Mckellen(you know, Gandalf)

That was a good 4 story book

Apt Pupil was the third movie from Different Seasons.

I loved The Stand; of course, I am a huge fan of the pandemic population control (Native Americans call it the "Great Purification")... Especially when I'm trying to find a parking spot!

Eyes of the Dragon was wicked cool, although I don't recall actually finishing it. The last thing that I remember about that book is Flagg running up the steps of the tower saying "I'm coming for your head..."

I tried to get through Salem's Lot but just couldn't do it. I think I was just too young at the time.

Never read "IT" but I loved the movie! Tim Curry, from a sweet transvestite to Pink's prosecuttor to a killer clown is perfect for the role.

Hmmm, let me see.. Can't say that I've read anything else of his. But I do love Leland Gaunt's famous line from Needful Things, "Kill 'em. Kill 'em all, let God sort them out...."
